Our lab is dedicated to advancing the science of women and child nutrition to improve health outcomes across generations. The nutritional status of women during preconception, pregnancy, and lactation plays a critical role in shaping the health and development of their children. We investigate strategies to address maternal undernutrition and anemia, which are major contributors to low birth weight and stunting. For children, we focus on innovative, context-specific approaches to ensure optimal nutrition during the first 1,000 days of life. Leveraging local food systems, traditional practices, and emerging research on the gut microbiome, our work aims to develop sustainable solutions that integrate community participation and cultural relevance. Through our research, we strive to combat malnutrition and build healthier futures for women and children.
